CD Description : "In 1966, in Honmoku, Yokohama, when there was America over the fence, they showed up.” After the war, Honmoku in Yokohama was designated as a U.S. military house district, and American-style buildings were built in the base area surrounded by wire fences. Young people were fascinated by American culture, and Honmoku quickly developed its own culture as a center of cutting-edge music and fashion. The Golden Cups" made their debut as a Group Sounds (GS) band in 1967 as a regular band at the club "Honmoku Golden Cup," which was crowded with American soldiers in the middle of Honmoku. With the big hit "Nagaikami-No-Shojo" the group quickly became as popular as the Tigers and the Tempters. However, that was not their true form... The Golden Cups One More Time" consists of two parts: "SIDE A," which traces the history of the Cups through archival footage, including miraculously discovered photos from inside "Honmoku Golden Cup" and scenes of their performance on "R&B Heaven" broadcast in 1968, SIDE B" is the first full-scale music documentary film in Japan. For the production, we conducted a year-long in-depth interview with the Cups members. In addition to the latest interviews, The complete collection includes off-shoots that are rarely shown. Also included are interviews with a total of 44 people who respect the Cups, including Kiyoshiro Imawano, Yuya Uchida, Takeshi Kitano, Joe Yamanaka, Kenichi Hagiwara, Akiko Yano, and Ken Yokoyama. It is a magnificent chronicle of Japan's first full-fledged R&B band from its birth to the present. |
