Book Description: I thought it might be about the size of the gThe Effector Bookh series, but it's actually the size of a BOSS compact effects pedal box. I couldn't help but chuckle. The content explains BOSS's stance as an effects maker and introduces current products, but nothing particularly interesting. The idea of recreating this or that person's sound with BOSS compact effects feels a bit outdated now. Including the developer interviews, it's all content you've probably heard somewhere before. It does include introductions to current models available on the BOSS website, but it doesn't review every single effect pedal ever made. It doesn't offer particularly high reference value at this point. The worst part is the writing by the contributors. They probably divided the work among themselves, but the lack of originality makes it read like middle school essays, which is utterly tiresome. It's a disappointing book where a promising concept ended up being half-baked, including the writing. | |
